OUR TENTS

We have two eco tents, Carnaby and Baudin, each with their own identity. Named after  the endemic black cockatoos of the southwest, these graceful, endangered birds are often seen on the farm and every time they fly by, we are enamoured by their beauty, effortless movement and unmistakable calls.  They are also believed to be the guides and guardians of the spirits of loved ones on their journey to rest amongst the Ancestors…

CARNABY  TENT

Positioned beneath towering Karri Trees in an elevated location, Carnaby’s tent looks south with uninterrupted views over our Spring Fed Dam, Trufferie, Vineyard and farmlands beyond. Enjoy the morning sunrise when light ever so slowly consumes the darkness, hear the birds call and nature spring to life all around you. When the sun sets, dappled light breaks through the native trees and lights up the forest and grasslands, a truly incredible time of day wherever you are on the farm.

BAUDIN  TENT

Nestled among native trees with uninterrupted views looking east over Karri Forest and farmland beyond, Baudin’s tent draws you into the forest where you are wrapped tightly by all of nature’s beauty.  As the sunlight fades through the Trufferie and sinks behind our Spring Fed Dam, watch the night reveal itself and stars appear one by one.  At this moment, peace and quiet take on a whole new meaning.

  • A light breakfast is included and we encourage you to either stop in at Wild at Heart café or the IGA in Pemberton to pick up some local and other delicious provisions. Or bring your own favourite ingredients and cook up a storm.

  • Upon request and with notice, we can deliver a small generator and hair dryer to your tent as we understand the need to wash and dry your hair after a long hike, swim, bike ride or just because.

  • Truffle, Truffle, Truffle, we love Truffle. Talk to us about the magical fungi at any time, it’s the reason we moved to Pemberton and is the real focus of the farm. Wandagar, as amazing as it us, is our side hustle.

  • Seasonal Truffle Hunts, from June to September we have regular hunts where we engage local professional Truffle Hunters (with dogs) to walk through the Trufferie and uncover our Black Périgord Truffle. Contact us in advance to see if we are hunting during your visit.

  • Buying Truffle, between June and September truffle is abundant in the region, let us know in advance of your arrival if you would like some and we can procure for you, and even suggest some easy truffle meals for your stay.

WHATS NOT INCLUDED AND WHY
  • The electricity and all of the water used during your stay is captured and stored here at Wandagar. We ask that you consume these modestly, and hope you understand that high energy appliances such as a dishwasher, hair dryers, kettle or toaster can’t be supported when you are off-grid.

  • Everything about Wandagar is designed to create connection to nature and to each other. TVs only serve as a distraction, so we’ve left them out also.

  • We do have an outdoor cooker for your tea and coffee requirements along with gas grill for tasting bread and cooking meals.

  • The kitchen doesn't feature an oven or microwave - but you can use the outdoor cooker, or fire pit (season dependant) and Cast Iron campfire cooking pot for all your cooking needs

  • Fans, don’t worry about summer heat, our farm is only 20 km from the Indian Ocean and 150m above sea level.  Your tent captures the beautiful sea breeze which drifts over native forests, our truffle plantation and up the hill to you.
